Purpose​

This SOP provides standardized procedures for installing, hardening, and maintaining the Air Force Standard Desktop Configuration (AFSDC) on mission systems designated for Operational Technology (OT) use. Its purpose is to:

  • Establish a trusted baseline by installing an approved SDC image that meets USAF cybersecurity and operational compliance requirements.

  • Ensure system integrity and security through mandatory Group Policy modifications, startup app control, driver/software validation, and removal of unauthorized services such as wireless connectivity.

  • Support OT mission operations by enabling the installation of required vendor tools (e.g., SEL AcSELerator, PowerLogic ION, EasyPower) on a secure and standardized platform.

  • Protect USAF networks and mission data by enforcing strict “no internet” use on SDC machines, controlling removable media, and ensuring compliance with encryption and classification requirements.
